Serving 17 years as a commissioner on
the Fountain Hills Fire District board is enough in itself to qualify
for the hall of fame, but Mr. Yoder's contributions to the betterment
of his community go far beyond that.
He arrived in the community in August 1973,
and with his father, Fred, and brother Glen formed Yoder Corp., which
is the longest continually operating building firm in the community. He
organized the Y Indian Guides that was affiliated with the Mesa YMCA.
He also helped start the Cub Scouts, Fountain Hills Little League and
the Fountain Hills Licensed Contractors Association.
He coached at all levels and served on
the board of the little league. Working with other volunteers, he donated
materials and labor and supervised the construction of the concession
stand at Four Peaks field. Another of his projects was to organize and
help build the infield on the baseball field at Four Peaks Elementary.
He also served on the Committee of Architecture
for nine years and was on the board of the Community Association for one
year. Also a member of Sunset Kiwanis for many years, he was named Fountain
Hills Citizen of the Year in 1986.
