The former Tribal Council member is the 2011 Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation inductee. She was an active church volunteer, serving as an elder at the Fort McDowell Presbyterian Church her entire adult life. She attended the Phoenix Indian School and was very active in the government's Home Extension programs. She served on the Tribal Council in the early 1950s.
      Besides her community service, she was first of all, a homemaker and quilter. Considered the matriarch of the family, she has more than 100 descendents living at Fort McDowell today including great granddaughter Gwen Bahe, who has had many years of service on the Tribal Council. Among the late Mrs. Smith's children is Joan Enos, who was previously inducted into the hall of fame. Mrs. Smith was the daughter of Mike Burns, better known as Hoomothya or AWet Nose.
